Pledge for a Drug Free Society Resonates in Purba Bardhaman

Bardhaman: On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse, the streets of Purba Bardhaman witnessed a unique resolution today. With the core message of "Say no to drugs, build a healthy and safe society," the district police have sounded the bugle for a decisive war against the dark trade of narcotics.
The command of this special awareness program organized in Bardhaman city was directly held by the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Purba Bardhaman, M.S. Pushpa (IPS). Alongside her, Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Shantanu Chowdhury and other top officials of the police department participated in the march (padayatra), sending a clear message to the community that the poison of drugs will no longer be tolerated in Bardhaman. The SP stated in no uncertain terms that the district police are adopting a 'zero tolerance' policy against drug trafficking and illegal sales, and the grip of the law will be tightened even further.

During the event, police officials addressed the citizens, especially the youth, emphasizing that drug addiction does not just ruin an individual but swallows the happiness of the entire family. It is the root cause of crime and violence. They highlighted that the police force is not merely a law enforcement agency but a socially accountable institution committed to saving youth from the wrong path and leading them toward a bright future.

This initiative by the Purba Bardhaman District Police is not just a formality, but the beginning of a widespread social reform. On one hand, while strict police action is instilling fear in criminals, awareness programs like this march demonstrate that coordination between the public and the police is essential to build a secure society. This initiative by Bardhaman is not only an inspiration for other districts but also raises hope that if society and law enforcement join hands, the demon of drug abuse can definitely be defeated. Bardhaman has now taken a step forward toward a 'drug-free' future.
